Dear friends,
We hope all is well and we welcome you to the very last newsletter of the Learning Circle Education in the 21st Century.
It is time to thank you for all your work and wish you farewell.
An amazing leaning adventure ends, let’s have a short look at your findings in exploring learning in the 21st century in Uganda and The Netherlands.
Differences and similarities
Sometimes the outcome was opposite of expected (NL5 – child labour)…and that sharpened the minds.
In other cases there were far more similarities; as expressed in the findings of UG1 around special needs education.
There were also amazing video clips (UG1, UG2, UG3,UG4,UG5) that showed the technical and acting talents from Soroti students :-)
We applaud you for that….
Findings, teachers and technology
We all knew from the start, that participating in the Learning Circle would be a challenge for the students in Uganda.
Yet it is proven again that primarily the teacher and not the amount of technology that is available makes the difference in a class room.
One look at the flow graphical overviews shows it clearly.
It was UG 6 that stated that participating in this Learning Circles and comparing educational systems “helps a developing country to develop at faster speed because of interactions”.
Students of NL4 stated that the Learning Circle work was beneficial for their English yet mostly ‘On top” of the normal work and “When we had more time for it, we think there came better answers out of it”
Support.
We also thank Mr. Samuel Aide….
We have met on Skype chats many times… uploading 80 Mb video clips with Uganda bandwidth is a real challenge.
Yet Sam did never gave up… a true coach an inspiration for his students. Thank you Sam!!
Feedback?
This Learning Circle was a pilot between the Edukans and the Global Teenager Project to try and see if working together in a Learning Circle is a good preparation for a physical exchange.
Did we succeed? That is up to the learners to decide…let’s see if we can create feedback during or after the July exchange in which way the Learning Circle contributed to the impact of the exchange.
We welcome those who did not post their goodbye message to do so before the exchange starts.
Thank you
As facilitators of this Learning Circle we would like to thanks Edukans of creating this learning event.
Being in Soroti and afterwards working with the students on-line was an amazing experience.
Travel safe and enjoy your meetings!
We wish all the Dutch Students a safe journey to Soroti… you will just love the country and its people.
We wish the staff and students of Soroti a wonderful time with their learning companions… finally face2face after 12 weeks of virtual collaboration
Ria Kattevilder and Bob Hofman, Learning Circle facilitators.
